Why the maths matters
Scaling an image to a ratio it was not shot in either stretches it or crops it. Calculating the exact height first means you crop deliberately instead of discovering the problem after upload.
Safe margins
Pinterest overlays interface elements on the bottom of full-screen pins. Keep critical text at least 8% away from the bottom edge and 6% from the sides.
Common sizes at a glance
2:3 → 1000×1500. 9:16 → 1080×1920. 3:4 → 1000×1333. Square → 1000×1000. Doubling the numbers gives you a retina-safe export.

2:3 for standard pins, 9:16 for full-screen and Idea Pins, 3:4 for feed placements.

Yes. Exporting at 2000×3000 is fine and stays sharp on any screen.
Does Pinterest crop 2:3 pins?
No, 2:3 is native. Other ratios get cropped in some surfaces.
