Which parameters matter?
utm_source and utm_medium are the minimum. utm_campaign lets you group pins, and utm_content distinguishes two pins pointing at the same article.
Should I shorten the link?
Pinterest accepts long links, but a short one looks tidier under a pin. Keep the UTM parameters either way — they are what makes the data readable.
